Custody And Parenting Time
Children Live Everyday.
Not Just On The Weekend.
As a society, we cannot promote the importance of both parents in the lives of children while also perpetuating a status quo that limits the maximum involvement of both parents.
Optimal involvement of both parents should be the standard in every family court across this country.

Non-Custodial Parents Aren’t Visitors
The term “visitation” when it comes to being with one’s kid is an antiquated term which underscores the intrinsic inequity within the family law system. People visit the library or the museum. During one’s time at these places there is no expectation of care or responsibility. Only the cost of admission is required. Therefore, when a child is with the non-custodial parent they are not visiting.
That child or those children are being fed, bathed, nurtured, and loved. Parenting Equity believes that every parent, non-parent, and institution immediately drops the word “visitation” from their vocabulary. The fact that the term “visitation” has even made it to Webster’s dictionary illustrates that Parenting Equity has some work ahead of us.

Custody Statistics
As of 2018, according to the United States Census Bureau, 79.9% of custodial parents in the United States were mothers.
The Case for Shared Parenting
According to the United States Census Bureau, there were 12.9 million custodial parents in the US in 2018.
That number is now likely higher, but of those 12.9 million + custodial parents.
Parenting Equity believes that the amount of conflict present in many family court cases could be decreased if there was a presumption of 50/50 custody.
Importance Of Fathers In The Lives Of Children
As a society, we cannot promote the importance of fathers in the lives of children because it sounds good while also perpetuating a status quo which limits the maximum involvement of both parents.
